Ray Bensen Snow Park straddles the edge of the recently burned forest at Santiam Pass. Snow and ice from last storm plasters the windward side of
the trees. It started melting and making slush bombs later in the day. The XC (aka Nordic) skiing here is really good; almost all the snow reaches the ground, and it's harder to get lost in this sort of forest. Not that I would recommend burning your forest to improve the skiing!
