Winterfold forest

Winterfold forest 6, originally uploaded by simmob44.

The view is to the west from a high point in Winterfold Forest that is located on a sandstone ridge running through the centre of the county of Surrey in the south of England. The area is a protected area and is designated in UK and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This area is known as the Surrey Hills.

To the south of these hills is a wide area of lower land known as The Weald and it extends into the county of West Sussex before it meets the chalk hills of the South Downs that run from east to west a few miles north of the coast. The point from which I took the photograph is just to the north of a town called Cranleigh which should easily be found on a map of the UK or in Google Earth.

I am extremely fortunate to live in this beautiful area and I walk in the forest almost every days with my wife and my dog called Robbie.

We have a small bed and breakfast business at www.gardenroom.org.uk

The google Earth GPS reference for this area is 51 degrees 10' 33.84" N and 0 degrees 28' 21.98"w where you will find another picture of this forest area with my dog. You will see from the Google map that this area is very heavily forested.
